Rescuers save mother and daughter trapped in avalanche in northern India
The mother and daughter were uninjured
Locals rescued a 37-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter Saturday following an avalanche in a remote village in India's Poonch district.
Local media reports the mother and daughter were out collecting water when the disaster struck.
Several locals witnessed the event and rushed in to rescue the pair, who were uninjured.
“They got trapped under the snow, but luckily some villagers raised an alarm following which people from the area rushed to the spot and succeeded in tracing both the mother and daughter under the snow,” local police told Great Kashmir.
“Both were rescued from the avalanche site and taken to their house where both are stable and out of danger.”
