BRIEF SHOT OF WARMER WEATHER FOR THE WEEKEND, RISK OF SNOW AHEAD OF HALLOWEEN

Temperatures on Friday will climb to slightly below seasonal, which is a change that many will likely welcome after a mostly chilly and below-seasonal week. The increasing warmth will also continue into the weekend and will be ideal for outdoor activities.

"Temperatures will recover to the mid-teens with abundant sunshine on Saturday afternoon, staying in the upper teens with more sun on Sunday," says Gillham. "This will make for some great weather to get outside and enjoy the fall colours."

By Monday, some areas across the south may even reach the 20-degree mark ahead of a more extended period of colder than normal weather to round out the month.

NEXT FALL STORM TAKES AIM EARLY NEXT WEEK

A fall storm is set to track into the Great Lakes region Monday night with widespread rain and strong winds followed by falling temperatures during the day on Tuesday.

"The final week of October and into early November will also bring an extended period of colder than normal weather to the Great Lakes region, including southern Ontario," Gillham adds. "This pattern will bring the potential for lake-effect snow in the snow belt areas before Halloween."
