Monday, July 6th 2020, 6:03 am - Powerful thunderstorms triggered multiple tornado warnings and sightings in Saskatchewan Saturday evening, with three confirmed twisters.
Saskatchewan's first three tornadoes in 2020 were confirmed by Environment Canada, occurring on Saturday night after intense thunderstorms moved through southern portions of the province.
After reviewing photo and video evidence that surfaced online, the agency verified a twister touched down near the town of Glenbain at 4:30 pm local time. This tornado has not been rated, and as of July 5, there are no reported damages.
Environment Canada confirmed a second tornado touched down near Kincaid and Woodrow at 4:40 CST. Damages to a home and farm property are currently being investigated.
A third tornado touched down near Assiniboia at 6:23 CST with no reported damages as of July 5.
Environment Canada notes that these storm assessments are considered preliminary and may change if more information becomes available.
MULTIPLE TORNADO SIGHTINGS, HAIL, SCARY SKIES REPORTED
Once the storms started firing up, it didn't take long for social media to explode with visuals from the severe weather, including images and videos of the confirmed tornadoes. Residents also posted visuals of scary skies, lightning and large hail.
