Passion for chasing storms leads to flourishing of women group
When The Weather Network meteorologist Jaclyn Whittal began chasing storms more than a decade ago, there were just a handful of women participating.
For many years, there weren't many female role models in the storm-chasing field. However, more and more women, such as Jen Walton, are getting involved in the pursuit of severe weather and ensuring others are being noticed for their efforts.
Such is the case with Girls Who Chase, which started out as a simple Instagram account and has since rapidly evolved to include a website and regular podcast, allowing for a growing social media following. The group's mission is to inspire, empower, and equip girls and women to pursue storms, the sciences, and their passions.
