Montreal man dies while skiing at Vermont resort

Bruce Charron, 68, lost a ski just before crashing into trees along the side of the trail, state police say.

A 68-year-old Montreal man died while skiing at Jay Peak in Vermont on Sunday. Bruce Charron, who lived in the city's west end, lost a ski just before striking trees along the edge of the trail at approximately 12:45 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

Charron was treated by emergency responders and extricated from the scene of the crash by Jay Peak Ski Patrol.

He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the resort, police say.

The incident is still under investigation.
