A lightning strike at Hutchinson Regional Airport damaged a runway on Sunday, May 5, officials announced on Facebook.
The strike hit during a storm, where heavy rain, hail and flooding was reported.
CCTV footage posted by the airport shows lightning striking the runway. Airport officials said on Facebook that the airport gets hit by lightning twice a year on average.
The strike narrowly missed hitting a private plane, which was parked a few metres away.
