Instability may conjure up storms in parts of southern Ontario Wednesday
After a quiet start to the week in southern Ontario, parts of the region may get a bit noisy Wednesday as the threat for thunderstorms returns to the region.
After a much-needed break from the heat and humidity in southern Ontario, the muggy and sticky weather will attempt to make a return. As such, the risk for non-severe thunderstorms returns to parts of the region and northern sections, too, bringing the chance of heavy rain and strong wind gusts. Wednesday: Chance of storms resurfaces in parts of southern Ontario
A cold front will be moving through northeastern Ontario and carry on to southwestern regions of the province Wednesday. The front will possibly deliver thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy rains. The storms are not expected to be severe however conditions could make that achievable.
Although the risk doesn't spread into the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), storms that develop late-day Wednesday -- associated with a weak trough crossing Michigan -- could produce gusty winds and brief, heavy downpours.

Thursday, and the days ahead
As the front continues east, the GTA might see sporadic lightning flashes through pre-dawn hours Thursday morning. The front will keep moving and set up shop across eastern Ontario and southern Quebec on Thursday, a more widespread risk of thunderstorms develops with chances that they could turn severe.
The Georgian Bay region in central Ontario as well as northeastern Ontario could see the storms getting a bit stronger. Wind gusts could be high but are not expected to exceed 90 km/h.
Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe have a chance for some showers and thunderstorms rolling through but the moody weather will be isolated and sporadic throughout the day.

The risk will resurface Friday, primarily north and east of the GTA, however. Spectacular summer weather ahead for the weekend for southern Ontario with abundant sunshine, near seasonal temperatures and comfortable humidity.
