The skyrocketing price of lumber is making people think twice about building a cottage.
Saltbox is a Halifax-based company that has a sustainable solution to this problem — converting old shipping containers into cottages.
The sturdy shipping container material can withstand high winds and hurricanes, which reduces the need for additional building materials. It also prevents the shipping container from ending up in a landfill, where it would unnecessarily go to waste.
