Thursday, September 26th 2019, 12:00 pm - This terrifying video proves that everything is not always what it seems.
"Turn around, don't drown" is an often-used phrase from the U.S. National Weather Service, urging people to refrain from driving into flooded streets, even if the water doesn't look very deep. But after watching the video above, we may want to consider exercising an equal amount of cautiousness when walking through floodwaters.
Video captured in Houston, TX, on September 19 shows pedestrian after pedestrian falling through a deep puddle - that at first glance, appears to be quite shallow.
"I pulled over since it was getting flooded around the area, I was recording the water when all of a sudden I saw the guy trying to cross not knowing it was a deep ditch,” the camera operator said via ViralHog.
The individual added, “I kept recording and warning people to not cross but they didn't believe me and kept walking."
Fortunately, despite having sunk into waist-deep water, no one reported any injuries.
The heavy rain was a result of Tropical Storm Imelda, which brought torrential rains over the Houston-area last week. The storm dumped as much as 1092 mm of rain on parts of southeast Texas in a span of just 72 hours, flooding thousands of homes and vehicles, and leaving at least five people dead, according to the Houston Business Journal.
