Warm spreads slowly across the Prairies, though some will shiver a bit longer
A freezing start to the week for most across the Prairies, some returns in Alberta on Wednesday through Manitoba on Friday.
Record-setting freezing at the beginning of the week (watch the video above to hear more about the plummeting temperatures), but the heat returns starting Wednesday in western Alberta and spreading to Manitoba by Thursday. Heat won't last long as it looks like we're in for the next round of cooler temperatures Saturday. Parts of southern Alberta may see a warmer Sunday. A closer look, below.

WEDNESDAY AND BEYOND: WARMUP SPREADS EASTWARD
Tuesday's record-breaking morning chill was followed by the early inklings of a temperature revival in Alberta, and even warmer temperatures settle in for Wednesday, with daytime highs comfortably in the low teens, with very little humidity.
Some of that recovery will spill into western Saskatchewan, where some communities have a shot at 20°C, but proper warmth will have to wait a little longer, and Manitobans can expect daytime highs no warmer than the mid-teens.

THURSDAY AND BEYOND: WARMUP CONTINUES, BACK DOWN TO EARTH SLIGHTLY FOR THE WEEKEND
Nothing will stop the warmth's spread through the rest of the week, such that by Friday, even chilly Manitoba will be back on the better side of 20°C. In fact, some places may find themselves a whisker above seasonal to close out the week.
The skies will largely be clear as well, with the high pressure beneath which this heat is building having the secondary effect of keeping out stormy weather: so most systems that look to enter the region will skirt northward for the most part.

Beyond, the weekend features a quick shot of cooler weather behind a cold front set to track across the region Friday night and Saturday. But warmer weather will quickly flood back into Alberta and Saskatchewan Sunday, with Manitoba rejoining the party early next week.
