Winter is here, but that doesn't mean you should ditch the sunscreen, especially on your face.
But this year is different. As the pandemic continues, many of us are heading outside with half our faces concealed under face masks.
So -- do you have to wear SPF protection under your mask?
Melanie Kinglsey, associate professor of dermatology at Indiana University School of Medicine, says masks don't typically provide a lot of protection from the sun, but ones with a thicker thread count would provide a higher degree of it.
Even when wearing a mask that claims to provide high SPF protection, dermatologists still recommend wearing sunscreen underneath.
