Multiple rounds of severe weather are expected today

Torrential rainfall, intense lightning, and rumbles of thunder tracked across southern Manitoba on Friday, with multiple rounds of severe weather expected still, including a slight tornado risk.

The harsh conditions are due to a potent upper level trough moving into the eastern Prairies with an associated low pressure system, which is acting as the trigger for these storms.

Already the storms have brought torrential rain that triggered localized flooding. In Winnipeg, a lightning strike sparked a house fire that caused damage to one home's roof and attic, though no one was hurt.
