Atlantic: Sunshine returns, but the weekend will have a wet finish
After a wintry start to the Easter long weekend, conditions will improve for Atlantic Canada for most of what is remaining. It will be a slightly delayed improvement in parts of Newfoundland from the departing system until Saturday afternoon. Sunday will be pleasant, but the break in the active weather will be short-lived as the next system looks to arrive Monday morning. SATURDAY: REMNANTS OF SYSTEM DEPARTS, MOSTLY DRY, PLEASANT DAY
While most of Atlantic Canada has cleared out from the effects of the potent winter-like system, parts of Newfoundland are experiencing some leftover showers and mixing Saturday, particularly in the Avalon Peninsula and western areas, respectively. Amounts will be quite limited and the precipitation will ease off by the afternoon in the higher terrain.
Winds, however, will still be somewhat gusty, hitting the 40-60 km/h range, making for blowing snow, but gusts should dissipate Saturday evening.
SUNDAY AND BEYOND: SUNSHINE WILL GIVE WAY TO NEXT SYSTEM EARLY NEXT WEEK
After this winter-like blast, the rest of the long leekend will be more peaceful, with Sunday being dry with seasonal temperatures.
However, forecasters are keeping watch on another system that looks to track into the region beginning Monday morning, with effects lasting into Tuesday evening for Newfoundland. At this time, it is expected to bring mostly rain to the region, though it could change:
