Wednesday, August 18th 2021, 3:06 pm - Less than three years after losing mobility, Mike is back in the water.
Mike Shoreman has spent a lot of time paddleboarding along shores and giving guided tours along Toronto's waterfront.
But that all changed in 2018 when a chickenpox virus he had as a child re-emerged, causing him to lose mobility.
Hearing and speech were impacted, among other things, and he had to spend a lot of time re-learning how to walk.
Doctors said he would never paddleboard again, but Mike set out to prove them wrong.
Now, less than three years later, Mike is gearing up to take on a paddleboarding adventure that has never been attempted before, and he's doing it to raise awareness about mental health.
Watch the video above to learn more about Mike's incredible journey and how you can support it.
