Manitoba's north offers rewards you won't find in big cities

Candid Closeup is a weekly segment that features Canadians from coast to coast who love to share their weather. In this episode, The Weather Network's Kim MacDonald had the opportunity to speak with Alan McLauchlan, a former RCMP officer who has captured the magic of the north on camera.

When it comes to retirement living, there is no better place than the northern Manitoba wilderness as far as Alan McLauchlan is concerned. Boats in the summer, snowmobiles in the winter, and a perfect playground for kids to learn about fishing, exploring, and building campfires.

In this edition of Candid Closeup, the former RCMP officer takes us even farther north to Churchill where he experienced a moment of a lifetime with a family of polar bears, and managed to capture it all on camera.
