Beach Conditions

(La version française suivra) Riverside Park beach is located on the Ottawa River in the town of Pembroke. The beach is part of the 75-acre tent and trailer park but is accessible to the public as a day-use facility. The swimming area is marked off by buoys and the river bed drop off is very gradual. The beach is mostly composed of medium to coarse grains and the river bed is sandy. The picnic areas are fully-serviced trailer and tent campground park owned by the city of Pembrooke with shade trees and pavilions. There are lifeguards on duty but no boat launches. Public restrooms are the main facilities on site. Lots of activities such as mini-golf ball diamonds a playground a splash pad and a snack bar are available. It is connected to Pembroke Marina/Waterfront Park by the 1.5-km Kiwanas Walkway. The Pembroke Area Field Naturalists have recorded as many as 56 bird species on their annual field trip along the Walkway in late August including gulls terns ducks geese cormorants and songbirds such as vireos warblers sparrows and finches. Surprises usually occur (Almstedt Hendrickson & Davies 2013). Weekly samples are taken for water quality testing by Renfrew County District Public Health Unit._La plage du Parc Riverside se situe sur la rivière des Outaouais dans le village de Pembroke. La plage fait partie d’un terrain de 75 acres pour les tentes et les roulottes mais elle est accessible au public même si on n'y campe pas. L'étendue de sable est surveillée par des sauveteurs et la zone de baignade est délimitée par des bouées mais il n'y a pas d'endroits pour la mise à l'eau des embarcations.. La zone de pique-nique a une zone à l'ombre des arbres et fait partie du terrain de camping propriété de la ville de Pembrooke. Il y a des salles de bain publiques mini-golf structure de jeux des terrains de soccer des fontaines d'eau et une cantine. Le groupe Pembrooke Area Field Naturalists ont fait l'inventaire de 56 espèces d'oiseaux sur leur voyage annuel en août. On y trouve des goélands des canards des oies des cormorands et des oiseaux chanteurs (Almstedt Hendrickson & Davies 2013). L'Échantillonnage pour tester la qualité de l'eau se fait par semaine par le bureau de santé publique du compté de Renfrew.
