Ts'yl-os Provincial Park/Chilko Lake Short Term Forecast
Ts'y-los Provincial Park is centered around Chilko Lake and contains 233 000 hectares of other lakes mountains alpine meadows and waterfalls. There is a bounty of wildlife around including girzzly bears and mountain goats. The Chilko fish include rainbow trout bull trout dolly varden mountain whitefish and ocean run fish -- including steelhead sockeye salmon chinook salmon and coho salmon.The Chilko River and Lake are reported to have consistent levels of clear clean water. The Chilko River features vital salmon runs in the fall about one million salmon returning per year to the lake and river. In late August the local First Nations Xeni Gwetin harvest the salmon at their traditional campsites with gaff hooks. The sockeye begin their spawn by the early part of September.This beach is not monitored nor do we have any data on it. While it may be safe to swim please check with your local authorities or watch for posted signs.
