A beautiful 4km stretch of sandy beach borders the village of Qualicum Beach. The width of the beach is extended by more than a half a kilometer at low tide. Swimmers kayakers and beach lovers will find this shoreline very appealing.For a stroll people may choose to use the paved walkway scattered along which are a concession public toilets and grassy areas for relaxing. Others may choose to beach-comb their way through the sand in search of sand dollars (unique flat round shells with a star-shaped pattern) and other ocean treasures washed ashore.This beach is one of those beaches that will be measured 'as needed' by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. This means that the Vancouver Island Health Authority may keep the beaches open to swimmers despite the potential dangers to swimmers. Fraser Riverkeepers will always mark this beach with a grey rating (unless they begin to monitor the beach more frequently) to warn swimmers of potential dangers. When swimming in these waters always exercise caution.
