BC Parks warns that the riverbanks can be slippery and to take precaution when walking on them. Other areas of high water may also be closed to swimming. It is best to check with the park information booth when you visit. The park was established in the 1940s in order to protect old-growth Douglas fir. The park offers swimming fishing camping trails and day-use areas. This beach is one of those beaches that will be measured 'as needed' by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. This means that the Vancouver Island Health Authority may keep the beaches open to swimmers despite the potential dangers to swimmers. Fraser Riverkeepers will always mark this beach with a grey rating (unless they begin to monitor the beach more frequently) to warn swimmers of potential dangers.
