Beach Conditions

This beach is located roughly 4km from Vernon and it has a drinking water and a picnic area. The beach can be accessed from Tronson Road and Lakeshore Drive.Waters are shallowest in this part of Okanagan Lake and susceptible to contamination from occasional sewage discharges and nutrient loading from runoff. Historically this part of the lake has had high nitrogen and phosphorus levels which can result in ‘blooms’ of algae and proliferation of bacteria. Until current monitoring results are available caution is advised in using these beaches—if the water is unclear or smells bad it may not be safe to swim. Use of treated municipal or well water for drinking and cooking is advised. There are three sites that the Interior Health Department samples at during the summer: Middle North and South.
