Beach Conditions

Porthardy.com says of this place: 'Cape Scott Provincial Park is one of the wildest windiest most woebegone locales in the province for human habitation. Journeying to either Brooks Peninsula or Cape Scott is only for those whose mettle has been tested by repeated exposure to the bellows and blast-furnace of nature in the raw.' Hardy Bay along with the Quatse River Estuary are known for bald eagles and great blue herons as well as various shorebirds and migratory birds. Nearby activities include the Quatse Salmon Stewardship Centre and Hatchery whale watching wilderness exploring hiking and a rich cultural scene. This beach is one of those beaches that will be measured 'as needed' by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. This means that the Vancouver Island Health Authority may keep the beaches open to swimmers despite the potential dangers to swimmers. Fraser Riverkeepers will always mark this beach with a grey rating (unless they begin to monitor the beach more frequently) to warn swimmers of potential dangers. When swimming in these waters always exercise caution.
