Jackfish Lake Recreation Area Beach, AB

Jackfish Lake Recreation Area Beach Short Term Forecast

Beach Conditions

Jackfish Lake Recreation Area is on the east side of Jackfish Lake. There is no beach but an extensive boat launch and parking area. The water is shallow reedy and deepens gradually with no demarcated swimming area. This is a popular beach area because of the close proximity to Edmonton extensive grassy and treed recreation area and day use amenities. The park is operated by Parkland County and parking charges are sometimes applied. 'Jackfish' is another term for Northern Pike. Another name for Northern Pike in Wikipedia was 'Sharptooth McGraw'. The beach and lake were open for the whole of the 2011 2012 and 2013 bathing seasons and the lake has historically good water quality. There was a report of swimmer's itch in 2013 but not confirmed.
