Beach Conditions

Gregoire Lake PP Beach is a very popular beach with a day use and camping area. The beach is sandy and the waters are usually clear and shallow. Gregoire Lake is very popular with residents of Fort MacMurray due to the close proximity. The Park and beach have all of necessary amentities but expect a busy beach and more crowded waters on the weekends for July and August. Gregoire Lake used to be Willow Lake and still is to many. Gregoire was a local settler in an area frequented by the likes of Alex Mackenzie Peter pond and David Thompson. The lake was also a popular spot for Woodland Cree long before the settlers arrived. The Anzac Day use area also has a beach on the lake in the PP. Photo credit Optic 13. The beach and lake not posted for the whole of the 2011 and 2013 bathing seasons most of the 2012 bathing season. The beach and lake has historically good water quality.An AHS Blue-green algae advisory was issued for Gregoire Lake and Gregoire River on August 20/2012 until the end of the bathing season.
