Floating Stone Lake Recreation Area Beach, AB
Floating Stone Lake Recreation Area Beach Short Term Forecast
Floating Stone Lake Recreation Area Beach is a large sandy beach that leads to a shallow water swimming area (more like wading). The lake is named after a massive solitary stone that used to rise from the water. Typical of many lakes in the area the receding water levels now expose the whole 'floating stone'. This lake was victim to a large fish kill recently because of the shallow waters caused by the receding lake. The beach is very family friendly and popular because of its size and amenities of the day use area and campground. The waters of the lake usually become pretty green in the Summer months because of algal growth. The beach and lake were open for all of the 2011 2012 and 2013 bathing seasons.
