Recommended Action

Do not drink your tap water - use bottled water only. Bottled water or other source of known good quality water should be used for all drinking (including baby formula and juice), brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice and food preparation. Do Not try and treat the water yourself. Boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting the water stand will not make the water safe. Reverse Osmosis and Distillation are the only effective methods to remove nitrates from water. This advisory is effective July 9th, 2021 and will NOT be lifted until the water supply is determined to be completely safe. UPDATE - Has been extended, the drinking water advisory that has been issued for the Hamlet of Vawn. Do NOT Drink Notice is now issued due to the distributed water exceeding the maximum acceptable concentration of Nitrates. Nitrates specifically affects infants, pregnant women and individuals with certain health conditions. Individuals with certain health conditions should consult with their Doctor to determine if elevate Nitrates may pose a risk. The Advisory has been extended.
