Special Air Quality Statement

Issued at 10:22 Thursday 05 August 2021

Smoke from forest fires in BC and the Prairies continue to give poor air quality at times to portions of Saskatchewan.

Conditions should improve somewhat over southern regions later today as a southerly flow pushes the smoke back towards the north.

However, more smoke and haze originating from the BC fires may start advancing into western Saskatchewan late Friday.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.

Please call HealthLine 811 for advice on health risks, symptoms and precautions associated with air quality.

Visit for information on how to reduce your health risk and your personal contribution to pollution levels, as well as for current and forecast AQHI values.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
