Atlantic: Late-week system to bring a blast of winter to the region
Alerts in Effect
Winter Storm WatchIssued at 15:41 Tuesday 25 February 2020
A major low pressure system will affect Southwestern Quebec as of Wednesday, Central Quebec on Thursday and Eastern Quebec on Friday.
This system will bring heavy snow to these regions, with more than 25 to 45 centimetres of snow over parts of Central and Eastern Quebec.
In addition, the strong winds combined with snow will give near zero visibilities in blowing snow, especially over areas near the St Lawrence river and the Lower North Shore.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.
