Higher than normal water levels with large waves are expected near the coast.
Warning of potential breaking sea conditions and overwash issued jointly by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Science) and the Meteorological Service of Canada - Quebec region on 2019-10-16.
An intense low pressure system from the East Coast will cause strong to severe winds over the regions listed below. The combination of these winds and the fact that we are currently in a period of medium tidal range could produce minor breaking sea conditions along the coast near these localities, at the dates and times specified (Eastern daylight time).
Rimouski - Mont-Joli : 2019-10-17, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM.
Matane: 2019-10-17, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM.
Forillon Park - Gaspé - Percé : 2019-10-17, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM.
New-Carlisle - Chandler : 2017-10-19, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM.
Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.
Storm surge warnings are issued when water levels pose a threat to coastal regions.
