Special Weather StatementIssued at 10:38 Tuesday 25 February 2020
Freezing rain and snow expected Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Snow is expected to begin this evening and continue into Wednesday. Heavier snow is expected Wednesday afternoon before changing to freezing rain or rain later in the afternoon. Some areas may receive several hours of freezing rain before changing to flurries Wednesday night.
Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm are possible by Thursday morning in areas where the precipitation falls primarily as snow.
There is uncertainty regarding the track of the low pressure system responsible for the precipitation. Any change in the track could drastically change snowfall amounts and precipitation types. Motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions.
This precipitation is the result of a low pressure system from the central United States that is forecast to track over Eastern Ontario Wednesday night.
