Snow Squall Watch

Issued at 15:28 Wednesday 26 February 2020
Summary

Lake effect snow squalls with widespread blowing snow possible Thursday afternoon through Saturday.

Conditions are favourable for snow squalls to develop off Lake Huron Thursday afternoon. A couple of these snow squalls may become particularly intense causing heavy snow and blowing snow well inland of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. While the snow squalls will move with time, this snow squall event is expected to last until Saturday morning.

Travel will become hazardous, and people are advised to consider changing their travel plans accordingly.

###

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
