Snow Squall Warning

Issued at 21:10 Wednesday 30 November 2022
Summary

Snow squalls are expected to continue this evening into Thursday morning.

Hazard:
Visibility reduced to near zero in snow and blowing snow.
Local snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm.

Timing: This evening through Thursday morning.

Discussion:
Locally heavy flurries and snow squalls are forecast this evening in the wake of a strong cold front. These flurries and snow squalls will last through tonight before weakening Thursday morning.

###

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Road closures are possible.
