Snow Squall Warning

Issued at 15:40 Sunday 05 December 2021
Summary

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

Total snowfall: locally 10 cm or more in snow squalls.

Maximum wind gusts: westerly 50 km/h.

Locations: western Newfoundland from Bay St. George to Gros Morne.

Time span: tonight.

###

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
