Issued at 10:46 Friday 28 February 2020

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring in some locations.

Total snowfall: widespread 10 to 15 cm although some localized areas could receive a bit more or less due to local effects.

Maximum wind gusts: 60 to 80 km/h.

Locations: northern Avalon Peninsula, northeastern Newfoundland and the straits side of the Northern Peninsula.

Time span: until early this afternoon except until this evening over the straits side of the Great Northern Peninsula.

Remarks: Fresh snowfall will combine with strong easterly winds to produce poor visibility in blowing snow.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.
