Alerts in Effect
Special Weather StatementIssued at 15:58 Saturday 18 January 2020
More snow on the way to start the week.
Total snowfall: generally 10 to 15 cm with locally higher amounts possible in areas of heavier snow.
Locations: All of Newfoundland except the Northern Peninsula and West Coast.
Time Frame: Sunday night and Monday morning.
Remarks. There is some uncertainty as to how far west the low generating this snowfall will track as it crosses either central or eastern Newfoundland. Southeastern areas of the Island including the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas will see a brief changeover to rain or drizzle overnight Sunday night into Monday before the precipitation ends. Strong east to southeasterly winds will accompany the snow to give reduced visibilities in blowing snow Sunday night.
