Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada
Recommended Action

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Description

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Further freezing rain amounts: 2 to 5 mm (highest inland and over higher terrain).

Locations: Norman Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair, including Black Tickle.

Time span: ending near noon.

Similar conditions in the past have led to ice buildup on utility infrastructure, resulting in service outages.

Remarks: Ice accretion will likely be most extensive inland and over higher terrain where the longest duration of below freezing temperatures is expected to occur. A shorter period of freezing is expected near the coast where temperatures will be slightly milder.

Precipitation is expected to remain mainly as snow in Cartwright, but further east in Black Tickle it will see a transition to freezing rain that will last until noon Today.

###

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
