Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher in thunderstorms.
Potential wind gusts: locally 70 km/h or higher in thunderstorms.
Locations: southwestern New Brunswick.
Time span: this evening.
Remarks: Thunderstorms are moving into southwestern New Brunswick and will persist this evening. These thunderstorms are expected to weaken later this evening.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
