Special Weather StatementIssued at 16:01 Thursday 27 January 2022
We are continuing to monitor the development of a potentially intense winter storm that will impact the province on Saturday and into Sunday. This storm is expected to bring snow with strong northeasterly winds and blowing snow to much of the province beginning Saturday morning in the south, and spreading to the rest of the province by Saturday afternoon.
There continues to be some uncertainty for the exact intensity, wind speed, and snowfall amounts. However, current indications suggest that the snow will taper off across the province on Sunday morning.
In addition there is a risk of higher than normal water levels along the east coast, particularly near high tide Saturday afternoon. Strong ice pressure and rafting is also possible on Saturday.
Forecast details will become clear as the storm approaches.
