Snow, rain, and strong winds are expected this weekend.

Total snowfall: 5 to 10 cm, except possibly exceeding 20 cm for central and northern Newfoundland.

Total rainfall: 15 to 25 mm, except possibly exceeding 50 mm along the south coast.

Maximum wind gusts: 80 to 100 km/h. Stronger coastal gusts possible.

Time span: Saturday night and Sunday.

Locations: most of Newfoundland.

Remarks: Precipitation will likely start as snow for most areas Saturday afternoon or evening before changing through freezing rain or ice pellets to rain Saturday night or Sunday morning. The rain will taper to showers or flurries on Sunday.

Strong southerly winds and mild temperatures will accompany the rain, leading to significant snowmelt and localized flooding Saturday night and Sunday.
