Extreme Cold WarningIssued at 04:30 Friday 17 January 2020
A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills continues. The coldest wind chill values will be near minus 45.
There will be slight moderation in temperature and wind chill over some parts of Alberta this afternoon under cloudy conditions. However, wind chill values will be extreme once again tonight over most of the province as skies clear.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
