Avalanche, flooding risk high in B.C., end in sight to atmospheric rivers

A prolonged period of heavy rain tonight through Wednesday.
Total rainfall: Up to 50 mm for Whistler and the Pemberton Valley, up to 60 mm for Metro Vancouver Central including Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster, Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley, 60 to 80 mm over southern sections of Sunshine Coast, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam, and up to 120 mm near the North Shore mountains and Squamish.
Locations: Metro Vancouver Central, North Shore, Northeast and Southeast, Howe Sound, Whistler, Pemberton, Sunshine Coast near Gibsons, Sea to Sky Highway - Squamish to Whistler, Fraser Valley Central including Chilliwack.
Timespan: Tonight through Wednesday.
Other risk: Rising freezing levels and snowmelt may contribute to increased runoff.
Remarks: The third atmospheric river in just under a week will once again give rain heavy at times over the British Columbia south coast. Heavy rain will ease tonight but will reintensify on Wednesday as a cold front moves across the region.
Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
