Snow expected tonight into Monday afternoon.
Snowfall amounts: 5 to 10 cm near the water, 10 to 15 cm inland.
Locations: North Vancouver Island, East Vancouver Island, West Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast - Saltery Bay to Powell River, Malahat Highway - Goldstream to Mill Bay.
Time span: Tonight into Monday afternoon.
Remarks: A strong frontal system from the Pacific coupling with cold surface temperatures will bring snow to Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast tonight and into Monday. The snow will begin this evening and gradually transition to rain or rain mixed with wet snow Monday morning.
Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm are expected. Inland sections away from the water and higher terrain of Vancouver Island may see up to 15 cm by Monday afternoon.
There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.
