Heavy rain this weekend.
Total Rainfall: 100 to 130 mm.
Locations: West Vancouver Island.
Timespan: Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon.
Remarks: Another front will approach the south coast on Saturday. Rain will begin early Saturday morning and intensify during the day. Heavy rain will start to ease late Sunday morning. Total rainfall amounts exceeding 100 mm are expected through the period with southwestern regions receiving even higher amounts. Port Renfrew may see up to 130 mm.
Strong warming will accompany this system causing snow levels to rise well above the mountain tops on Saturday. Snowmelt will contribute to run off, increasing the risk of flooding and possibly impacting vulnerable landscapes and infrastructure.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
