Snow Squall Warning

Issued at 22:28 Thursday 08 December 2016

Snow squalls off of Lake Huron have developed in a stiff and cold northwesterly flow in the wake of a cold front.

The snow squalls will intensify and may become localized tonight as the colder air continues to be ushered in by the northwest winds. Latest indications suggest there is potential for strong snowsquall bands with significant accumulation into Friday. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimeters are expected by Friday morning in the regions with additional amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres on Friday in the strongest snow squalls.

Should a snow squall lock in over a location for a few hours, local snowfall amounts near 30 centimetres are possible.

Dangerous winter driving conditions are expected in the snow squalls. Motorists should consider changing travel plans accordingly.

###

Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Road closures are possible.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
