Freezing Rain Warning

Issued at 15:08 Sunday 21 January 2018

Some freezing rain likely on Monday.

A Colorado low is forecast to cross the lower Great Lakes for the start of the work week. A few areas from the Oak Ridges Moraine into the Dundalk Highlands may have patchy freezing drizzle during the night into Monday morning.

An area of more substantial precipitation will move into the region Monday morning and continue for much of the day. The majority of this precipitation is expected to fall in the form of rain since temperatures should be just above the freezing mark. However, temperatures may occasionally dip just below the freezing mark resulting in freezing rain during the day.

At this point, it looks like freezing rain amounts should be fairly light. More significant freezing rain is likely over much of Central and Eastern Ontario where temperatures will be colder.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
