Snow Squall Warning

Issued at 13:01 Friday 09 December 2016

Snow squalls off Georgian Bay will continue today. Significant snowfall in the 15 to 25 centimetre range is likely with the strongest snow squalls by this evening. Local snowfall amounts of 30 centimetres are possible in a few locales should a snow squall lock in for a few hours.

The lake effect snow bands will slowly start to drift northward tonight and weaken as winds become a little more westerly.

###

Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
