Special Weather Statement

Issued at 00:16 Thursday 29 June 2017

A significant rainfall on the way.

A low pressure area over Minnesota will slowly track east towards
Lake Superior tonight, reaching Northern Lake Huron on Thursday. This weather system will bring a large area of showers and a few embedded
thunderstorms with it tonight through Thursday night.

Latest indications suggest a general rainfall of 20 to 30 millimetres is possible by Friday morning. However, there is some potential for moisture laden thunderstorms to boost total amounts to near 50 millimetres or more, especially in any areas that receive repeated thunderstorm activity.

There remains some uncertainty to location of the heaviest rainfall
amounts at this time due to the track of the low, and locations where thunderstorms may develop.

Environment Canada continues to monitor this weather system closely.
