Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Issued at 14:13 Friday 21 July 2017

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

A frontal boundary associated with an approaching area of low pressure will trigger thunderstorms over portions of Southern Saskatchewan.

Some of these thunderstorms may become severe during the afternoon and evening hours.

Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to or tweet reports using #SKStorm.
