Special Weather StatementIssued at 04:06 Saturday 23 September 2017
With the beginning of fall, mainly sunny conditions and warm moist air will affect several regions of Southwestern and Central Quebec today and Sunday. Temperatures on Saturday will reach up to 27 to 30 degrees celcius in the afternoon with humidex values ranging from 33 to 37. Sunday will be a little warmer with highs up to 30 to 32 degrees celsius with humidex values near 36 to 40. The temperature will only drop slightly below 20 degrees on Saturday night.
Temperatures will therefore soar well above seasonal values of 15 to 18 degrees during the day and 5 to 9 degrees during the night for these areas. We even expect to break numerous records in several locales across Southwestern and Central Quebec this weekend.
These very summerlike conditions will continue into Monday and Tuesday. A return to seasonal values are only expected by the end of next week.
Plan your outside activtities during cooler periods of the day.
Diminish the health risks for your young children and other vulnerable people by making sure they cool down often, keeping them well hydrated and reducing their exposure to heat.
