A winter storm developing over the Great Lakes will affect Eastern Quebec beginning midday Tuesday. Significant snowfall, high winds and blowing snow are possible until Wednesday with this system.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Winter storm watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Summary

A storm system developing over the Great Lakes will track along the East Coast on Tuesday and reach the Gaspé Peninsula on Wednesday. Significant snowfall amounts will occur over these regions beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing until Thursday, along with strong winds. Regions east of Sept-Îles could be affected later.

Hazardous driving conditions are expected with variable visibilities quickly changing from good to nil, if the scenario is confirmed.
