Major winter storm system to begin the week. Amounts of freezing rain will be significant...

A winter storm will affect the province of Quebec beginning Monday afternoon through Wednesday.

Snow will intensify Monday afternoon and change to freezing rain over southern areas of the province on Monday night.

Please note that the freezing rain will persist for a number of hours along the St Lawrence Valley. It may continue until Tuesday afternoon depending on areas. The most affected areas will be the Outaouais, Montreal and the Mauricie toward Québec. Models currently indicate that near 10 millimetres of freezing rain is expected.

Significant snowfall amounts along with strong winds and blowing snow are expected over Central and Eastern Quebec.

This storm is expected to give poor travelling conditions. Please consider deferring non-essential travel.
