Freezing Rain WarningIssued at 19:57 Tuesday 20 February 2018
Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.
2 to 5 millimetres of freezing rain are expected over Western Quebec this evening. Over Central Quebec, freezing rainfall amounts will be heavier; 5 to 10 millimetres are expected.
The freezing rain will be especially persistent over the Quebec region, where total amounts of 10 to 20 millimetres are expected through Wednesday morning.
The warm front responsible for freezing precipitation will move toward Eastern Quebec late tonight. The North Shore, the Lower St Lawrence and the Gaspé Peninsula will be affected.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
